Buffalo Bills Curse Strikes Again

The Buffalo Bills lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 24-27 during the NFL Divisional Round. It has now been 3 -years in a row that the Josh Allen Bills failed to make it past the second round. Although Josh Allen had a good game, it was a combination of bad playcalling and bad drops that lost them this game.

The Buffalo Bills won the AFC East and dominated the Steelers in the first round. After that performance, many thought that this Bills team would be able to beat the Kansas City Chiefs at home, but this did not happen. Stefon Diggs is the team's highest-paid skilled position player at $18 million, yet his production didn’t reflect that. Diggs had 8 targets but only 3 receptions for 21 yards. Diggs had the 4th most receiving yards on the team yet they are paying him like a true wide receiver.

Another high-paid player who had a lackluster performance was Tyler Bass. Tyler Bass is the league's 6th highest-paid kicker at $6 million, but he messed up on the most crucial play in the game. The Bills were down 3 with 1:47 seconds left in the game with a chance to tie and potentially take the game to overtime. Tyler Bass missed what should have been a give-me 41-yard field goal, guaranteeing a Bills loss.

Sean McDermott should officially be on the hot seat. Although he signed a contract extension on June 23, 2023, the Bills should look into replacing him sooner rather than later. McDermott has not shown that he can take this Bills team to the Super Bowl. When the Bills were trailing only 3 points in the 4th quarter with 12 minutes left, Sean decided to attempt a fake punt at their own 30. Given the circumstances, there was no reason to take such a big risk, but Sean did it anyway. The play call did not work, giving the Chiefs great field position.

The Bills are bottom-4 in terms of salary cap space, meaning unless big names are cut, traded, or released they will more likely than not run it back next season with the same roster. Although this season was injury-riddled especially for the Bills defense it would make sense to get rid of Tre’Davious Whites' contract considering he has suffered back-to-back season-ending injuries. Von Miller is making an average of $20 million a year until 2027. He recorded 0 sacks this season. This signing seems to be one of the worst contracts in football. Last but not least it might be time to get rid of Stefon Diggs. Not only is he not producing the way the team and fans

expected him to, but he is always in the news for bad things. Some would say Diggs is a “diva” and he never seems truly happy in Buffalo. Big changes are more likely than not are going to occur in Buffalo.
