College Football and NFL Schedule | Mini Recap & Preview
The schedules of the upcoming college football and NFL are released. Football season in respective places is coming soon to whet the appetite for the football consumer. The college football season begins on August 24th when Florida State plays Georgia Tech at Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
Let’s look at certain games on paper that could be must see tv. On August 31st Clemson vs Georgia is an intriguing matchup as Quarterback Carson Beck of Georgia may arguably be the top Heisman Trophy candidate to win this prestigious award at season’s end. Georgia looks to bounce back with a championship season after being denied access to the college football playoff scenario. Mark your calendar for Ohio State at Oregon on October 12th because Oregon will be a newcomer in the Big Ten Conference. New signal callers will be featured in this riveting matchup such as Quarterback Will Howard of Ohio State and Quarterback Dillon Gabriel of Oregon. Keep eyes on October 19th when Georgia plays at Texas as the Longhorns of Texas will be a newcomer to the SEC.
Then maybe the best game of the year outside of Ohio State vs Michigan is when Georgia faces Alabama on the road on September 28th. The nugget of truth from this matchup is the fact of the matter is these 2 Goliaths of the sport had combined for 9 championship game appearances during the 10 year run of the 4 team playoff era. Meanwhile there are a plethora of interesting matchups especially in the Big Ten Conference such as USC travels to Ann Arbor to face the defending national champions Michigan Wolverines on September 21st.
This matchup will be the debut of the USC Trojans playing in the Big Ten against a Big Ten opponent. Both teams on opposite sides will have new quarterbacks under center. On October 5th the rematch of last year’s national championship between Michigan vs Washington with the standout line:2 new head coaches on opposite sidelines: Michigan’s Sherrone Moore and Washington’s Jedd Fisch.
Now let’s look at the NFL Schedule:
According to the NFL Schedule release of 2024,the Pittsburgh Steelers has the toughest schedule with a strength of schedule .533 in terms of winning percentage. The Steelers will start the first 2 weeks on the road: at Atlanta Falcons and at Denver Broncos. They only have one home game in the opening month of the new season. Last season the AFC North was the Toughest division due to the fact that all 4 teams posted winning records with 3 out of the 4 teams making the playoffs. The Steelers face their division opponents in the 6 matchups within the final 8 weeks.
The team with the most favorable schedule is the Atlanta Falcons due to the lowest opponent’s winning percentage at .453. But the first 3 games of the season will be a difficult start against the Steelers, Eagles & Chiefs. The Falcons play the Raiders, Giants, Commanders and the Panthers. There are some intriguing games on prime time this season that is must see tv such as on October 27th at 8pm between The Dallas Cowboys and The San Francisco 49ers in Week 8. In Week 2,Chicago Bears faces Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football on September 15th featuring signal callers of the future such as Quarterback Caleb Williams of Chicago Bears and Quarterback C.J Stroud.
Week 17 on a Monday Night: December 30th The Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers featuring the rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game. Week 1 Baltimore Ravens open the season against the 2 time defending champions Kansas City Chiefs on September 5th.
Outside of the prime time matchups, keep your eyes on Week 7 Kansas City Chiefs at San Francisco 49ers on October 20th the rematch of last year’s Super Bowl. These are some of the interesting games to keep your eyes on for upcoming NFL season.
