The Stars Are Bright: Texas Rangers Will Win The AL West
The stars seem to be aligning in Texas for the Rangers! Despite star pitcher Jacob deGrom being out for the season with a torn UCL, the Rangers are currently the top team in the American League West. Major League Baseball is almost to the half-way point of the season, and I believe the Rangers will be kings of the AL West and have the potential to be in the World Series! The Tampa Bay Rays will have something to say about that but only time will tell! The 2023 World Series Champion is coming out of the American League so why not be the Rangers!
They currently have a record of 42-25 and the highest team run differential in baseball with +145. To put that in perspective the Boston Red Sox’s (34-35) have a +1.0 diff and the Oakland A’s (19-51) have a mind blowing -195.0 diff. Run differential doesn’t always predict the champion but it gives you a leg up on the competition.
This week MLB put out an article, “Fifth starting pitcher power rankings of 2023 (mlb.com)” ranking Rangers Pitcher, Nathan Eovaldi number two on the list. Nathan Eovaldi “Evo” isn’t your typical rely on the fastball type of pitcher. He works side to side across the strike zone, slicing up the plate with his cutter, splitter and four seamer! His record is 9-2 with an ERA of 2.49 and he is 4-0 in his last 5 games. Keep your eyes on this pitching ace! With deGrom out, Evo has a lot on shoulders, but this year looks and feels different!
The Rangers also have a dynamic duo of middle-infielders in Marcus Semien at second base and Corey Seager at short stop. Seager currently has a batting average of .357 with 9 HR and 36 RBIs. While Simien is averaging .257 with 10 HR and 53 RBIs. Simien is currently leading the American League in runs and is 2 nd in the AL in hits.
This core of resilient players is exactly what the Rangers need to get through the grind of the season and end up on top! We are just about halfway to the finish line and the Rangers hold their own fate. The stars are aligning over Dallas Texas!
