The Week That Was | College Football Playoffs Are Set | Bill Belichick Becomes The New Head Coach of North Carolina | Juan Soto Signs The Largest Sports Contract With The New York Mets | NBA Season

The college football playoffs are ready and set to go next Friday night as the first round of the college football playoffs begins with 10th seeded Indiana Hoosiers at #7 Notre Dame on December 20th. Then on Saturday December 21st there will be a triple header extravaganza where the 11th seeded SMU will face 6th seeded Penn State then 12th seeded Clemson will face Texas on the road and finally 9th seeded Tennessee Volunteers will play on the road against 8th seeded Ohio State Buckeyes.

The inaugural college football playoffs will be history in the making something unprecedented especially teams who have first round byes which is the equivalent to the college basketball tournament such as Arizona State, Boise State, Georgia and Oregon. Oregon is the team who is undefeated so time will tell who will knock them off from the ranks of the unbeaten in the college football playoff.

Bill Belichick is now a new head coach in the college ranks recently hired by the North Carolina Tar Heels for 5 years,50 million contract. Now the college football landscape is obviously different from the NFL when it comes the student athletes, transfer portal and the NIL deals. How does Belichick handle that dynamic because regardless of what player signs the letter of intent moving forward will that player play four year or leave and entering the transfer portal to play with another College. Belichick can turn North Carolina around due to his immense success in the NFL obviously winning 6 Super Bowls with the New England Patriots. But this is college football where there a lot of parity now Belichick will bring credibility to the ACC because there are not that many great coaches in the conference except Dabo Swinney of Clemson. Overall this will be Bill Belichick's greatest challenge of his illustrious career in terms of coaching college football only time will tell how successful Belichick will be with the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Juan Soto made history by signing the largest sports contract in sports history:15 years,765 million with the New York Mets. Obviously this is a huge move the Mets organization taking Soto away from the New York Yankees so now Juan Soto is unquestionably the face of the Mets franchise and with a World Series championship with the Washington Nationals including 2 World Series appearances under his belt, Soto knows what it takes to win a championship with the New York Mets obviously he can't do it by himself.

In The NBA landscape, the Memphis Grizzlies are playing well recently they beat the Boston Celtics last Saturday by score of 127-121. Currently the Grizzlies are 17-8 which is third in the Western Conference. There are a plethora of reasons why they are playing exceptional such as leading the league in scoring:122.1 points a game, 4th in field goal percentage: 48.9, 4th in points differential:8.7,3rd in rebounds: 47.6 and finally the Grizzlies lead the league in blocked shots: 7.0.

Over in the NFL, the stretch run continues heading into Week 15 but recapping Week 14 what stood out was the Kansas City Chiefs continues pull out these close games by a close margins of victory by beating the Los Angeles Chargers by score of 19-17 for the 2nd consecutive game the Chiefs won again by the same identical score like they did the week before against the Las Vegas Raiders: 19-17.

The Chiefs also won the AFC West for the 9th straight time. The Buffalo Bills 7-game winning streak was snapped by the Los Angeles Rams on the road by losing by score of 44-42. Quarterback Matthew Stafford of Los Angeles Rams threw for 320 yards including 2 touchdown passes. Wide Receiver Puka Nacua caught 12 passes for 162 yards and 1 touchdown. Seattle Seahawks beat Arizona Cardinals by score of 30-18 in a battle for top of the NFC West. Finally how about the great season Quarterback Sam Darnold of the Minnesota Vikings is having because he threw for 347 yards and 5 touchdown passes as the Vikings won 42-21 against the Atlanta Falcons. Overall Darnold has thrown 28 touchdown passes and only 10 interceptions.

Moving forward to Week 15 slate of games keep eyes on Lions/Bills a possible Super Bowl Preview, Steelers/Eagles another possible Super Bowl Preview, Texans/Dolphins, Colts/Broncos, Chargers/Buccaneers and Packers/Seahawks.
