Now here is a look back at the Classic Throwback College Football Games of The Week where there were 2 games that were played in November starting with the Boston College played Miami at the old Orange Bowl where Miami was the defending champions coming into the 1984 season but Miami wasn't as good as 1983 season where they won the national championship against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

On November 23rd 1984 40 years ago, Boston College had a shootout for the ages against the Canes where Quarterback Doug Flutie of Boston College against Miami’s Bernie Kosar. The game was known for Doug Flutie's Hail Mary For The Ages to Gerald Phelan to win the ballgame by score of 47-45 which would go down as one of the more iconic moments in college football lore. The game was known as Hail Flutie: Miracle In Miami. Flutie threw for 472 yards and 3 touchdown passes to become the first major college quarterback to surpass 10,000 yards passing in a career. This classic game was played the day after Thanksgiving.

Doug Flutie would go on to win the Heisman Trophy in 1984. The next classic game was between Notre Dame vs Miami on November 25th 1989. This matchup was the rematch of Catholics vs Convicts from 1988 where the Irish won 31-30 in South Bend, Indiana. Now the scene shifted to the Orange Bowl where the Miami Hurricanes were looking revenge and a reckoning of #1 Notre Dame where the Canes won 27-10. This was a heated rivalry at the time. Miami Hurricanes would snap Notre Dame’s 23-game winning streak that resulted in Miami Hurricanes winning the national championship in 1989. This game was known for 3rd down and 43 where Quarterback Craig Erickson threw a pass to Wide Receiver Randal Hill to convert the 3rd and 43 for 44 yards.
