The World Series is here where there is Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Yankees will face each other for the first time since 1981 where the Dodgers won in 6 games against the Yankees featuring pitcher Fernando Valenzuela who unfortunately passed away this past week. This is the 12th time that the Yankees and Dodgers will face each other which is the equivalent to the Celtics vs Lakers in NBA annals.
Fast Forward to the 2024 World Series which will be the 120th edition sort of like a milestone World Series edition. There is so much star power in this World Series featuring the main stars like Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani who both hit 50+ home runs during the regular season which marks the first time ever that 2 players who hit 50 home runs that is featured in the World Series on opposite sides.
Overall, the key to the series is how the Yankees pitching staff fare against the vaunted Dodgers lineup with Ohtani, Betts, Freeman and company. But how will the Dodgers pitching staff fare against the the Yankees lineup that features Judge,Soto,and Stanton. The Yankees will win in 7 games. But no surprise if the Dodgers win the World Series this is an even matchup.
The NBA Season began this week with the defending champion Boston Celtics faced the New York Knicks and won in dominant fashion by score of 132-109 where the Celtics made 29 3-pointers. Then the Celtics won on Thursday against the Washington Wizards by score of 122-102 so the Celtics are off to a great start to the season. Other notable wins was the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Denver Nuggets by score of 102-87 on the road. Oklahoma City Thunder was led by Shai Gilgeous Alexander who had 28 points. The Milwaukee Bucks beat the Paul George and Joel Embiidless 76ers by score of 124-109. George and Joel who out due to injury where there is a participation plan where they will not play in back to back games. Embiid is part of the leg injury management where he will play some games this season but not back to back. The NBA decided to investigate this plan management so see how the results will turn out moving forward.
Now the College Football Week Recap where the game of the day took place at Louisville where the Miami Hurricanes won in a shootout on the road by score of 52-45. It was another close game victory for the Canes to preserve being unbeaten at 7-0. Miami Hurricanes defense has to be better if they want to win the national championship this season because the defense is allowing 39 points against the 3 ACC opponents they have faced including 404 total yards of offense. Miami’s defense has had difficulty stopping the explosive plays in the running and passing game such as 15 plays of 10 or more yards including 7 plays of over 20 yards last week against Louisville.
The main point is Miami’s offense is great but defensively they are not see if they sure up that department by season's end. Alabama lost their second game of the season against Tennessee losing by score of 24-17. Alabama have to be careful not to lose anymore games because 2 more losses could definitely knock them out of the playoff race. Michigan Wolverines the defending champions will definitely not make it to the playoffs due to their 3rd loss of the season to Illinois by score of 21-7.
Finally #5 Georgia beat #1 Texas on the road by score of 30-15. A big win against a top ranked team now as a result the Oregon Ducks are the new #1. Moving forward to the weekend slate of games keep eyes on #20 Illinois vs #1 Oregon,#12 Notre Dame vs #24 Navy,#21 Missouri vs #15 Alabama,#5 Texas vs #25 Vanderbilt,#8 LSU vs #14 Texas A&M.
Let's look at the Recap of The NFL games from last week such as the Detroit Lions winning on the road against the Minnesota Vikings by score of 31-29. Defensive Player of the Week:
