The NBA Playoffs finally get started on April 19th where the first round of the NBA Postseason will begin. First Things First, the Milwaukee Bucks will face the Indiana Pacers where there is star power in this series when you look at the Bucks with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard and look at the Pacers with Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam. The pressure is on the Bucks due to the expectations of this franchise that can't afford to have another first round exit. Overall the skillset of the Pacers should prevail in 7 games.
The Denver Nuggets vs Los Angeles Clippers should be a long series obviously star power reigns with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray even Russell Westbrook for the Nuggets including Kawai Leonard have to be healthy obviously and James Harden has to turn back the clock and play well like he did in his prime for the Clippers.
The question with the Nuggets is the coaching aspect with no Michael Malone how will Interim Head Coach David Adelman handle coaching the postseason? Overall the Nuggets should win in 7.
The Minnesota Timberwolves faces the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round where you have Luka Doncic playing in the postseason as a Laker obviously that is one storyline you must keep eyes on especially being a Laker and the championship aspirations that comes with playing for a storied franchise the caliber of the Los Angeles Lakers. For the Minnesota Timberwolves obviously eyes will be on Anthony Edwards but keep eyes on Donte Divincenzo and Julius Randle and how they contribute in their roles for Minnesota to prevail. The Lakers will win in 6 with too much Luka and enough LeBron James and the supporting cast of the Lakers.
The Golden State Warriors face the Houston Rockets in the first round obviously keep eyes on the experience of the Warriors from Head Coach Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green alongside Jimmy Butler should prevail against an overachieving Houston Rockets team that has had a magnificent season.
The Warriors will win in 6 games. The Detroit Pistons are in the playoffs and will face the New York Knicks which could be a 7-game series. The Knicks bench could be an Achilles heel that does them in. Cade Cunningham should definitely be the X-factor of what the Pistons can accomplish. The Pistons should win this series based their cohesion and momentum. The Boston Celtics will defend their NBA championship facing the Orlando Magic. This series could be a short one due to the overall talent of the Celtics yes the Orlando Magic is young and talented team but for the future. The Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers are awaiting the winner of the matchups of the teams of play in tournament: Hawks/Heat and Mavericks/Grizzlies.
The NFL Draft is coming up on April 24-26 obviously Quarterback Cam Ward of Miami Hurricanes should be the overall #1 pick to be selected by the Tennessee Titans. Moving forward will Quarterback Shedeur Sanders slipped in the first round or will the New York Giants draft Sanders as the future quarterback? Will Travis Hunter remain a draft commodity in the top 5 selections of picks? Will Penn State’s Abdul Carter be the next Micah Parsons and what if the Giants draft him? These questions will be answered next week. Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter will have their jerseys retired at Colorado on April 19th.
Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter will have their jerseys retired at Colorado on April 19th. This retirement is very poor in the timing of this because there are a plethora of former Colorado Buffaloes who helped build the program to prominence and a national power by winning the national championship in 1990 and could have won another one in 1989. Quarterback Darian Hagan should have his jersey retired because he won the national championship in 1990. Running Back Eric Bieniemy doesn't have his jersey retired only from the Bill McCartney era only was Running Back Rashaan Salaam who won the Heisman Trophy in 1994 had his jersey retired. How about Michael Westbrook the wide receiver from Colorado who caught the Hail Mary pass from Quarterback Kordell Stewart in 1994 against Michigan even Stewart doesn't have his jersey retired.
Check out Defensive Back Deon Figures who not only won a national championship in 1990 but also won the Jim Thorpe Award for the best Defensive Back in college football in 1992 never had his jersey retired and he wore #2 which is the same jersey that Sanders wore while he was at Colorado. Overall a bad decision for these retirements to take place for Sanders and Hunter.
Finally 40 years ago on April 15th 1985,Marvin Hagler faced Thomas Hearns in one of the great fights in boxing history despite the fight going only 3 rounds because both fighters were involved in a slugfest for the ages due to the back and forth element to it. This fight was known as 8 minutes of mayhem representing an era of the middleweight division epitomizing a golden era of boxing that had Hearns, Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran before the era of Mike Tyson began which represented the last of a dying breed.
